Each month from April through October, an American Flag is raised in front of the Wake Forest Town Hall at Centennial Plaza to honor the sacrifices of a deceased Wake Forest Veteran and their family.

Join us for Wake Forest's own Friday Night on White outdoor street festival! There will be great music, good food, and some adult beverages. Of course, the Chuck Wagon will be there serving our regular menu of 100% Sirloin Burgers, Nathan's All-beef Franks and delicious Bratwurst subs. This year's Day of Service event will be to assist at the display of The Wall That Heals, taking place in Roxboro, NC on May 1 through May 4, 2025. This is an incredibly rewarding experience for both attendees and volunteers. We have committed Post Members to assist attendees, answer questions, etc. No heavy lifting involved. Wake Forest Memorial VFW Post 8466 has kicked off its 2025 "Buddy Poppy" Campaign. Each weekend from 25 April through 27 May, members of our Post and volunteer helpers will be standing outside the doors of the Wal-Mart store in Louisburg distributing the famous "Buddy Poppies". We will also be at the Wake Forest Wal-Mart on Friday, 25 April and Saturday, 3 May. We encourage you to accept one with our compliments. We only ask that you wear it during these weeks leading up to Memorial Day to show that you remember those who gave their all for our Country. Of course, we will gladly accept your donations for our relief fund also. The Annual Purple Heart Banquet is Back for 2025!
The Purple Heart medal is presented to service members who have been wounded or killed as a result of enemy action while serving in the U.S. military. Please come and help us honor those Purple Heart recipients who were wounded and returned home. The 16th Annual Banquet will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2024 at 4 PM at Richland Creek Community Church, 3229 Burlington Mills Road, Wake Forest.
