WELCOME TO WAKE FOREST MEMORIAL POST 8466

Wake Forest Memorial VFW Post 8466
As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.  Our common bond is the battlefield, whether it is service in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Kosovo, the Persian Gulf, the war on terrorism or peace-keeping expeditionary campaigns. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.

Buddy Poppy Campaign

Wake Forest Memorial VFW Post 8466 has kicked off its 2024 "Buddy Poppy" Campaign. Each weekend from April 27 through May 21, members of our Post and volunteer helpers will be standing outside the doors of the Wal-Mart store in Louisburg distributing the famous "Buddy Poppies". We encourage you to accept one with our compliments. We only ask that you wear it during these weeks leading up to Memorial Day to show that you remember those who gave their all for our Country. Of course, we will gladly accept your donations for our relief fund also. Please click the link below to find out more about "Buddy Poppies" or to volunteer to help us raise funds to help disabled Veterans and Veterans in need in our local area.

Memorial Flag Placing

May 25, 2024

Each year, the Veterans associations in the Town of Wake Forest sponsor the placement of memorial flags on the graves of Veterans in our area. With the help of members, family, friends, citizens and civic groups, over 1,800 flags, at almost 20 different area cemeteries, are placed to remember and honor the service provided by these Veterans. Please come join us and participate in this meaningful and emotional event.

Meet at the American Legion Hall, 225 East Holding Avenue in Wake Forest before 8:00 AM on Saturday, May 25. Enjoy a light snack, gather your flags and proceed to your designated cemetery to place the flags. It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes once there. The experience is worth it!
