His camping trips were legendary, and his love for vacationing at Lake Gaston and fishing with his son were well known among his family and friends. Steve's green thumb was evident in his beautiful landscaping and gardening, which were a source of pride and joy.
A jack of all trades, Steve was the go-to guy for anything you may have needed. His ability to fix, build, or solve problems was unparalleled. His fellow retired firefighters will miss the camaraderie and stories shared over breakfast, a tradition that Steve cherished deeply.
Steve's commitment to his community was unwavering. He volunteered with the Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Never Forget Exhibit, ensuring that the memories of his fallen brothers and sisters were honored. He was a proud Legacy Life Member of Wake Forest Memorial Post 8466, and a member of American Legion Post 187, serving in many capacities and offices.

He Leaves behind his beloved wife of 23 years, Nancy Todd Spellman and two children, Kristen Spellman and Stephen Spellman, Jr.
