Al Zack
Adjutant - Marines

I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio. Joined the Marine Corps and left for MCRD San Diego on April 1, 1966, a memorable April Fool’s Day for sure.  After basic and airborne fire control systems training I was assigned to VMFA-122 in El Toro and landed in Da Nang in August 1967.  Spent two tours in Vietnam, about half in Da Nang and half in Chu Lai, keeping F-4 Phantoms in the air.  My last six months were at MCAS Beaufort, S.C. I worked 38 years at Allen-Bradley in industrial automation using my electronic military skills in quality assurance, field service and technical support.  My wife, Karen and I moved to Wake Forest four years ago, mainly to escape the Cleveland winters.  I’ve been a VFW Life Member since 1968 but never got involved much until I joined Post 8466.  I like old cars, Mustangs in particular and also have a ’67 Shelby Cobra that I built.
