1948 - 2015: Born in the Bronx, NY, Don Kroohs grew up in the Putnam Valley, graduating from Lakeland High School in 1966. He served in Vietnam, receiving three Purple Hearts, the Combat Infantryman Badge and several other honors. Following his military service, he lived in Wappinger's Falls, NY and worked for the New York Telephone Co. (later Verizon) until his retirement in 2002.
After moving to Wake Forest, he became an active and devoted member of Wake Forest Memorial VFW Post 8466, American Legion Post 187 and the Wake Forest Purple Heart Foundation.
Donald will always be remembered for his generous spirit and his love for his family, friends and country.
